Answers to your questions

  • What is OnsiteMD?

    • We are a Direct Primary Care practice.  Our doctors are Diplomats of the American Board of Family Medicine.  We started OnsiteMD together because we have a passion to help our patients without being controlled by insurance companies.

  • How is your direct primary care practice different than traditional medical practices?

    • Our direct primary care practice is patient focused, not problem focused.
The current system comprised of rushed visits and brief encounters does not allow for the development of the doctor-patient relationship. Time is required to get to know our patients and to understand their symptoms, context, fears, and concerns. This relationship is integral to providing exceptional care for the patient and we will have as much time as we need to address every problem you have every time.

We work for the patient; and only the patient.
The disruption of the doctor-patient relationship by insurance companies and Medicare/Medicaid has ruined the practice of medicine. By removing this barrier to personalized care, we are restoring control of your healthcare decisions to you, the patient. We will work together to determine what is best for you.

We can handle simple problems without an office visit.
This probably sounds crazy, but it’s true. Currently, the only way a physician can get paid by insurance and Medicare/Medicaid is to see patients in the office, which more often than not means a large chunk of your valuable time. But often the problem is simple and could be handled in a few minutes with direct communication. We won’t be forced to see a high number of patients to pay our overhead, and will therefore be available to answer you directly when you need us, anytime by phone, secure text, and secure email.

Our practice will be limited to a smaller number of patients so we will have the flexibility to be available when you need us.

  • Do you accept insurance?

    • Thankfully we are insurance-free.  Without the red tape of insurance companies, we have more time to spend with you! We feel that everyone should use their health insurance like their home or auto insurance…for catastrophic events.

  • Will I still need insurance?

    • ABSOLUTELY!  We recommend working with your insurance broker about switching your health insurance to a high-deductible, HSA-eligible (Health Savings Account not to be confused with a Flexible Spending Account). Many patients find that the money they save by switching to high-deductible plan more than pays for the membership fees.

  • What if I don’t have insurance?

    • No problem!  We will still be happy to help all members regardless of your insurance status. We strive to form partnerships with specialists, imaging centers and labs to offer you low cost alternatives.

  • What access do I have to my doctors?

    • We mean it when we say 24/7/365, via phone call, text, or email.  We take it personally if you do not call us and end up going to an ER or Urgent care center.

  • What if I need to see a specialist?

    • We will try to negotiate cash-pay prices with them.  Otherwise, we will have them work with your insurance

  • What are the contract terms?

    • No signup fees!  No cancellation fees!  Extra fees means more expensive care for you.  We NEVER bill your insurance

  • Is the membership fee tax-deductible?

    • Not at this time. However, Senators Hatch and Rubio have introduced a bill to the Senate Finance Committee called the Family and Retirement Health Investment Act of 2013 which would allow tax deductions for direct primary care fees.
